Collaboration will grow our ecosystem

#

Investment in InsurTech is booming globally, with a new report saying US$4.8B was raised in Q2. As an Association we are committed to growing the local ecosystem, including bringing people together for regular industry-wide events. On 27th July we hosted over 40 people to hear from the leaders of three exciting InsurTechs and our counterparts in Australia. A recurring theme on the night and in the post-event survey is the appetite for more collaboration and sharing experience.

Alistair Monk, Jason Wilby and Rob Ellis, co-founders respectively of Folio, Open and Sentro are all designing partnership models to work with businesses across the insurance value chain, locally and internationally. Key takeaways were that successful collaboration takes the right mindset – going in without a predetermined view, looking for ways to share experience and open doors rather than sell. To stretch an analogy, if each of us leaves some value on the table we can grow the pie for everyone.

Rita Yates, CEO of InsurTech Australia, joined virtually because we want to strengthen our relationships with like-minded organisations offshore. InsurTech Australia is focussed on similar challenges to ourselves such as attracting talent. For our members expanding into Australia, check out the new 2021 Ecosystem Map.

What’s next?

Mark the 30th August (5pm) in your diaries for the next event, being hosted at Duncan Cotterill’s offices, 37 Galway Street. Registration details coming soon.

Several people have already offered venues for the next couple of months which is much appreciated. Continue to send us your ideas for future topics. A new WhatsApp group will be created to accompany the physical events.
