Community Happenings
New Zealand Companies at InsurTechLIVE
Four New Zealand companies attended InsurTechLIVE in Sydney earlier this month, including Grappler, JAVLN, Sentro and Simfuni. This event, hosted annually by InsurTech Australia, explores the impact of macro pressures, technology shifts and changing customer expectations. The start-up pitch competition was won by ‘myVal’, a “virtual vault” that uses AI to document valuables.

Wellington and Auckland February meetings
The insurtech communities in Wellington and Auckland also met in February. A breakfast roundtable in Wellington reviewed the findings of research into innovation in insurance and the drivers of collaboration.
Auckland: Contracts of Insurance Act Panel

What’s coming up?
Payments Innovation
Our next event will take place on 10 April at AWS in Auckland, focusing on payments innovation. Don’t miss this opportunity to hear from industry leaders and network with peers.
Finally, special mention must be made of Blair Turnbull who left Tower this month who left Tower this month after more than four and a half years as CEO. Blair was a founding co-chair of InsurTechNZ, recognising the need to encourage greater collaboration across the industry, celebrate innovation, and not least of all, have some fun! Thanks for your leadership and support Blair!
