InsurTechNZ Newsletter – July 2023

Firstly, welcome to new members Bizcover, Cumulo9, Infolog and V-Unite who are all adding to a stronger InsurTechNZ community.

Members come together for regular events in a range of locations including Wellington. The next event will be held in Takapuna on 10th August.

June’s panel discussion about generative AI was as wide ranging as anticipated, canvassing future use cases, the issues that bias and privacy legislation pose for data use policies, and how to improve AI fluency for staff. If you couldn’t make it on the night, watch the video on our website.

A strategy is being developed to ensure our activities remain focused and impactful. A hard copy draft document was available at June’s event, and we’ll share this digitally for feedback.

AUT University is researching the insurance industry’s digital journey including digital augmentation and the concept of digital debt. The researchers want to speak to digital transformation leaders. Interested in taking part? Find out more here.

Raising Insurtech’s profile among tech graduates and professionals is another way we are building the ecosystem. During TechWeek, leaders from member companies Grappler, Folio Insure, and Fidelity Life offered ideas and advice for those considering a data-led career in insurance. Watch the full recording here.

Planning to attend ITC Las Vegas or Singapore next year? Let us know so we can bring interested parties together and coordinate a stronger Kiwi presence.

The New Zealand Insurance Industry Awards will recognise the ‘Insurtech Start up of the Year’. Entries close on 17 July here.

Thoughts, questions, or feedback? Write to us at info@amycavanaugh
